Good lord, what is this?!

This is what happens when you take a bunch of podcasters and get them to make a visual novel.

Early in 2022, I suggested to AbleKirby, my co-host on Rare Encounter, that we should grab a bunch of NaNoRenO entries to play and review on the show. He countered with one hell of a left hook and suggested that instead, we should put together an entry for this year’s jam. Having attempted writing a visual novel over a decade ago and remembering how far I had gotten (protip: not very damn far at all) I was pessimistic about the idea. Still, he talked me into it, and somehow talked another ten people from our listeners and neighboring shows into joining the effort as well. Throw in a bit of inspiration from that original concept I had all those years ago, and R.E. Huff ’n Stuff was born.

Now, this visual novel is quite different than that of my past VN project. In terms of characters, story, art, writing, style, everything, it’s definitely not the visual novel I had in mind. But this thing has a charm of its own, and for anyone who genuflects will no doubt find our story enjoyable.
